Ford Focus Service Manual: Headliner

NOTE:

Headliner with roof opening panel shown, all others similar.

Removal and Installation

All vehicles

1. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to A-Pillar Trim Panel in this section.

1. Disconnect the electrical connector located at the RH A-pillar.
   • Detach the 4 wire harness pin-type retainers.

1. Remove the front passenger seat. For additional information, refer to Section  501-10.

2 door

1. Remove the driver seat. For additional information, refer to Section  501-10.

1. Remove the LH and RH B-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to B-Pillar Trim Panel — 2-Door in this section.

4 door

1. Remove the safety belt D-ring cover.

1. Remove the safety belt D-ring bolt.
   • To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

1. Remove the upper B-pillar screw cover.

1. Remove the upper B-pillar screw.

1. Pull outward on the top of the lower B-pillar trim panel to release the clips and reposition the top of the trim panel.

1. Remove the upper B-pillar trim panel.

2 door

1. Remove the LH and RH C-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to C-Pillar Trim Panel in this section.

4 door

1. Remove the LH and RH quarter trim panels. For additional information, refer to Quarter Trim Panel — 4-Door in this section.

All vehicles

1. NOTICE: To prevent damage to the garment hanger retainer, use a 3/16-inch flat-blade screwdriver for this step.

   NOTE:

   The garment hanger is shown without the roof sheet metal to show the metal retainer clip. The metal retainer clip will remain engaged in the sheet metal after the garment hanger is removed.

   Remove the 2 garment hangers.
   1. Open the garment hanger access cover.
   1. Insert the flat-blade screwdriver fully into the garment hanger slot.
   1. Rotate the screwdriver 90 degrees so that the screwdriver spreads the metal retainer clip. Remove the plastic garment hanger.

1. If equipped, remove the roof opening panel trim ring.
   • To install, the roof opening panel trim ring ends should meet at the rear of the roof opening and have no gaps or overlaps.

1. Remove the LH and RH sun visors.
   • Remove the 4 sun visor screws.

1. NOTICE: Support the headliner when removing the 2 sun visor clips to avoid damage to the headliner.

   Remove the LH and RH sun visor clips.

   • Remove the 2 sun visor clip screws.

1. Remove the 2 headliner push-pin retainers.

2 door

1. NOTICE: An assistant is required when removing the headliner from the vehicle to avoid damage to the headliner.

   Remove the headliner.

   • Lower the headliner.
   • Remove the headliner through the passenger door opening.

4 door

1. NOTICE: An assistant is required when removing the headliner from the vehicle to avoid damage to the headliner.

   Remove the headliner.

   • Lower the headliner.
   • Remove the headliner through the RH rear passenger door opening.

All vehicles

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
