Removal and Installation

All backrests

  1. With the backrest lowered, fold back the corners of the backrest cover to gain access to all 4 bolts.
  1. Remove the 4 backrest-to-hinge bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).
  1. NOTICE: Do not remove the seat backrest by separating the center backrest hinge. Doing so may damage the hinge bushings.

    Separate the backrest from the hinges and remove.

Hinge removal

  1. For center backrest hinge, remove the 40 and 60 percent seat backrests.
  1. For LH or RH backrest hinge:
    • For 2-door, remove the quarter trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section  501-05.
    • For 4-door, remove the rear seat backrest bolster. For additional information, refer to Seat Bolster — Rear in this section.
  1. Remove the 2 bolts and backrest hinge.
    • To install, tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).

All backrests

  1. NOTE:

    Before installation, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted and the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants.

    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
