Disassembly

  1. Remove the reverse clutch pressure, friction and steel plates.
    1. Remove the retaining ring.
    1. Remove the plates.

  1. Using the Clutch Spring Compressor, remove the reverse clutch piston return spring retainer ring and retainer.

  1. Remove the reverse clutch piston return spring.

  1. Remove the reverse clutch piston assembly.

  1. NOTICE: If damage is found to the reverse clutch piston seals, install a new reverse clutch piston.

    Inspect the seal bore in drum, inner and outer seals.


Assembly

  1. Soak the internal spline clutch plates in clean transmission fluid.
  1. Lubricate and install the reverse clutch piston assembly.

  1. Install the reverse clutch piston return spring.

  1. Using the Clutch Spring Compressor, install the reverse clutch piston return spring retainer and retainer ring.

  1. Install the reverse clutch pressure, friction and steel plates.
    1. Install the plates.
    1. Install the retaining ring.
    • Check the clearance. For additional information, refer to Specifications in this section.
