Removal and Installation
NOTICE: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to
prevent the entry of foreign material or failure of the power steering components
may occur.
NOTICE: Do not allow power steering fluid to contact the accessory drive belt
or damage to the belt may occur.
- With a suitable suction device, remove the power steering fluid from the
fluid reservoir.
- Remove the power steering pump pulley. For additional information, refer
to Power Steering Pump Pulley in this section.
- Disconnect the pressure line fitting from the power steering pump.
- Position the pressure line aside.
- To install, tighten to 75 Nm (55 lb-ft).
- Release the clamp and disconnect the return hose from the power steering
pump.
- Remove the 4 bolts and the power steering pump and fluid reservoir.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Remove the Teflon® seal from the power steering pressure line fitting.
- Discard the Teflon® seal.
- NOTICE: Use a slight twisting motion when removing the reservoir and
carefully pull it away from the pump on the same axis as the reservoir outlet
tube to avoid damaging the reservoir.
NOTICE: Whenever the fluid reservoir is separated from the pump, new O-ring
seal(s) must be installed or a fluid leak may occur.
If necessary, remove the power steering fluid reservoir from the power steering
pump and discard the O-ring seal(s).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Using the Teflon® Seal Installer Set, install a new Teflon® seal on
the pressure line fitting.
- Fill the power steering system. For additional information, refer to Section
211-00.
