Ford Focus Service Manual: Front Door Latch
Removal
NOTE:
The door window glass must be completely raised.
- Remove the front door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section
501-05.
- Position the watershield aside.
- Disconnect the front door latch actuator electrical connector.
- Open the clip and disconnect the exterior front door handle actuating rod.
- Remove the interior front door handle cable from the retaining clip.
- Remove the 3 front door latch screws.
- With access through the front door latch opening, release the door latch
from the carrier assembly.
- Slide the door latch off the carrier.
- With access through the access panel opening, release the front door latch
from the carrier assembly.
- Detach the lock cylinder rod from the front door latch (if equipped).
- Remove the front door latch from the front door.
Installation
- Position the front door latch inside the door.
- Connect the lock cylinder rod to the front door latch (if equipped).
- Connect the front door latch to the 2 carrier assembly clips.
- Loosely install all 3 front door latch screws.
- Once all 3 screws are installed, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
- Position the interior front door handle cable into the retaining clip.
- Connect the door front latch actuator electrical connector.
- Adjust the exterior door handle. For additional information, refer to Door
Handle to Latch Rod Adjustment in this section.
- Reseal the watershield.
- Install the front door trim panel. For additional information, refer to
Section 501-05.
