Ford Focus Service Manual: Door Handle Reinforcement - Exterior, Front
Removal
All vehicles
NOTE:
The door window glass must be completely raised.
- Remove the front door latch. For additional information, refer to Front
Door Latch in this section.
- Remove the exterior front door handle. For additional information, refer
to Exterior Front Door Handle in this section.
Coupe
- Remove the front door window glass. For additional information, refer to
Section 501-11.
- NOTE:
The exterior front door handle reinforcement screw does
not have to be removed.
Loosen the exterior front door handle reinforcement screw.
Sedan
- Secure the door window glass in the full-up position with tape.
- Loosen the 2 window glass clamp bolts.
- Lower the window regulator to the full-down position.
- Remove the upper rear window glass track bolt.
- Push the top of the window glass track toward the front of the vehicle.
- NOTE:
The exterior front door handle reinforcement screw does
not have to be removed.
Loosen the exterior front door handle reinforcement screw through the access
hole.
All vehicles
- Slide the exterior front door handle reinforcement to the front of the vehicle
and remove from the door.
Installation
All vehicles
- NOTE:
Make sure the T-nut bottoms out when the exterior front
door handle reinforcement is slid rearward. Make sure the tabs are pushed through
the opening.
Install the exterior door handle reinforcement on the door.
- Position the exterior front door handle reinforcement on the door and
slide it rearward.
- Push and hold the T-nut against the sheet metal cutout in the direction
of the arrow.
- Tighten the exterior door handle reinforcement screw while holding the
T-nut.
Coupe
- Install the front door window glass. For additional information, refer to
Section 501-11.
Sedan
- Push the top of the window glass track toward the rear of the vehicle.
- Install the upper rear window glass track bolt.
- Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
- Raise the window regulator until the window glass clamps are in place on
the glass.
- Tighten the 2 window glass clamp bolts.
- Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
- Remove the tape securing the door glass.
All vehicles
- Install the exterior front door handle. For additional information, refer
to Exterior Front Door Handle in this section.
- NOTE:
After installing the front door latch, adjust the exterior
door handle. For additional information, refer to Door Handle to Latch Rod Adjustment
in this section.
Install the front door latch. For additional information, refer to Front
Door Latch in this section.
Removal
NOTE: The door window glass must be completely raised.
Remove the exterior rear door handle. For additional information, refer
to Exterior Rear Door Handle in this section.
